This is our first Newsletter of the New Year and I hope you all enjoyed Christmas and will have a Happy and prosperous 2000.
It is only a short news sheet really to remind you all that our first get-together of the 21st century will be from 2 p.m. until 4p.m. on
15th January at The Island Volunteer Centre, 39 Quay Street, Newport.
We are still awaiting news with regard to a new venue for our get-togethers and as soon as we have confirmation we will let you all know.
EVENTS PLANNED
This year we are proposing to commemorate Incest Awareness Day on the 2nd April and again will let you know when details have been finalised.
We are pleased to hear that Funtasia will possibly take place in July despite having to be cancelled last year due to lack of support. As usual we will use this event as one of our fundraising days. It is anticipated that we will do our usual tombola but if anyone has any other ideas please let us know.
Our other fundraiser is a jumble sale and this will also have to be planned carefully as prices of hiring halls are getting expensive and help scarce and we need to know we can get enough help at these events to make them viable.
We have a lady who is willing to do a sponsored bike ride in the Summer, and if any of you are prepared to join her, please write and let us know, as I am sure she would prefer the company.
If you can help at any or all of the above, or you have any other ideas regarding fundraising then, please let us know in writing, letting us know what event you would be happy to participate in.
Also in April we hold our Annual General Meeting (time and venue to follow at a later date.)
OTHER NEWS
It was sad to hear that the charity ASCSA has had to close their support and as ICAIR no longer have a listener on the Island it is even more important that JIG-SAW continues its support for survivors. Jig-Saw is run by survivors for survivors and need you to enable them to continue.
Janet is hoping to set up a core committee, meeting at regular intervals and putting heads together and if needed bouncing ideas of one another and off the walls if necessary. This will hopefully make running of Jig-Saw better and a successful group for you all.
In the meantime - TAKE CARE
